Each finely hand-painted with a bouquet of flowers and a butterfly, the border moulded with basket-weave and diaper patterns overlaid with flowering branches, enriched with six gilded cartouches, within a green scale rim and dentil gilded edge.

The undersides with underglaze blue Meissen crossed swords marks (crossed through for seconds), incised number 13 and impressed no. 2.

Overall good condition for age, some wear to gilt and a few minor dust smudges, one rim with small repaired chip.

An identical set of 8 plates, dated to circa 1830, was sold at Christie’s New York 23 April 2003 lot 113, for $4,780.

The ‘Brühlsche Allerlei’ service, commissioned by Heinrich Graf von Brühl in 1742, was one of the most magnificent table services made at the Meissen manufactory and is comparable in scale and ambition to the better-known Swan Service. The seven plates here are made later by Meissen after the same designs.
