A Pair of Italian Carved Marble Ewers, supplied by Toto Russo, Milan

Carved from Rouge Griotte marble and with a band of pale grey marble around the body, both retain a wonderful surface polish

Italian, Mid-20th Century

Height 15 1/4 inches

Both have several restored breaks to the handles, spouts and socles as shown in images.

Provenance: Galleria Toto Russo, Milan (label to undersides). The Italian interior designer Toto Russo was a favourite of the Gucci family, having worked on interiors for Maurizio Gucci, including on Gucci’s famous yacht “Creole” and the apartment Russo found for Maurizio at 38 Corso Venezia, Milan.

Objects with Tito Russo provenance appear to be rare, we have been unable to trace any other objects bearing this label having been on the market in recent years.
